2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Premature Evacuation?

So let me get this straight... The guy who just HAPPENS to be holding on to the lead by the skin of his teeth has decided that the Warbler War is over. At a time when this is the scene at my water feature currently (105/109):
Seems to me somebody is afraid of letting the spring migration finish, no????

  1. Caleb, if you were to read the rules (if you are one to read rules that is) you would see that the end date of the competition was set as 6/6 WAY back before we started. Again, your failure to keep track of numbers has made for an embarrassing situation for you. Guess your CAWA counts for NOTHING in the warbler wars...since spring is done and fall is not yet started! As in the words of the classic board game "SO-RRY!"
Oh, and your pictures deptic a similar scene to one I had in my back bushes a couple WEEKS ago!

  2. OK Chief. I can deal with this. Only question is will you be willing to pass up the singing male Connecticut in your backyard tomorrow morning?

And where is Slager in all of this? Having a hard time thinking of comebacks?

    (what fun ;) )

  3. and for the record I think the fall warbler war should go from November 1st to February 12th. Thoughts?

  4. Yeah I think the arbitrary dates are ridiculous. Lets throw down a July 15 start date for fall. And June 20 end date for spring. Lord knows I'm not spending any time in my mosquito/tick-infested woods anymore. I spend most of my time checking area ponds these days ;-)

  5. OK a serious post for once- how about spring migration ending June 20 (agree with Sean), and July 15-December 1 for fall?
