2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Come on Irene!

Hurricane Irene delivers yard bird #100 - 6 Forster's Terns miraculously appear from the outer bands of the storm this afternoon.

Was dreaming of a frigatebird, but I'll take 'em.

  2. I love the fact our competition has a man posted at the eye of the storm.

Please keep us posted on the action!

  3. Not quite the eye of the storm here. The northeast made out big as I'm sure you've seen. Sunday am at the mouth of the Chesapeake I had 3 Sooty Terns and a Pom, but that was it for four hours of seawatching. Hurricane season is only just getting started though, so am hoping for one tracking right over the yard, or maybe that wouldn't be such a good thing ...

  4. NE? Dude, I've been laying block and catching loons. I haven't heard boo and Haas Dog who usually keeps me in the loop is curiously absent...

lay it on me, I can take it....

  6. It says a lot. Tropicbird on Lake Michigan would say more.

  7. An American alluding to Dexy's Midnight Runners...they must have had a hit in the US after all?
