2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Preview - butterfly knots.

I've done my best to avoid working the new yard but last night a Red Knot in scope view was a nice little preview of the kind of whoop-ass I'm going to unload next year on you beeches when I lock and load with a new abode. How's that for trash talk (conspicuously absent in recent months)?

Unfortunately, I've also not doing a good job working the swamp lair.....I've lost my mojo, not even a new Pominar has turned the tide. I have been enjoying a flush of wildflowers and butterflies in my "new" prairie. I've also been going ape-shit on the buckthorn. It failed to deliver a mockingbird so now it has to pay the piper.

Round-U.P. ready!

  1. SHAMEFUL!!! Where is the Kat I am used to (dare there be a little projection/self-evaluation in my tone?)? Just want to say that by the new year I should be settled into a new location with my normal vim and vigor back and in true form. By the time New Year's Day rolls around, you can all watch out, esp. if I end up in a yard with a view of the horizon (and at least SOME possibility of getting a damn COYE and YBSA)... Let's GET IT.

  2. ....ON!Red Knot shameful? Who are you fooling Woodland Boy...

Dude, I'm just taking a year off like Tiger Woods and Kenny Powers. You know get my priorities straight, my f-on, and regroup.

Next year it's pure Tiger Blood for 365. Me and my Pominair will be inseparable.

    Rrrrrrr

p.s. Kaplan is Turkish for Tiger...Have I mentioned that before??
