2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Life Yard Bird

BTBW!  I can't believe it...adult male too.

#92 for the year.  #104 for life.  Interestingly, my county tick was two days ago.  And within this area (Janesville-Beloit-Rockford) I only had one before when I was a kid.  Much more common as you get closer to Lake Michigan.

  1. Good one Booner. I've only had it 2 times this year myself, and they're more regular here for sure.

  2. Fun yard lifer Boone! Creepin' up on 100 for the year!

I have been impressed at the consistency of this species in the yard over the last 10 days. An adult male or another has been hanging around and so have at least two females. This probably has to do with proximity to breeding habitat, but I haven't ever had this prevalence before.
