2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Drooling As Usual

Yeah, that's about all the excitement that January affords me at The Wastelands. Although as I was talking to a birding friend yesterday, I nabbed a female AMKE zip down the street for number 7. I get more good birds while having phone conversations with birding friends...how does that work?

  2. I saw a Merlin down the street but not much in the yard..... Im just not feeling it yet -- definitely lacking the motivation to really work the patch this Jan.

Nice to see the (almost) full compliment of players on the field.

  3. Yeah, not much to rave about. Had 6 AMRO fly over this morn. Maybe the 30knot west winds will kick something up off the lake in the morn. I'm not sure I want to face the wind chill though....

  4. Ricky..... I dont wanna hear about LP wind chill! Its so damn cold up here right now. I can barely see the feeders this morning through all the frost on the windows to say nothing of the tornado of snow outside
