2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Tic, tic, ticker tape parade

A nice parade of birds today beginning with Yellow Rail at 6:01 am from the lair followed shortly by Sedge Wren, then Yellow & Nashville Warbler and finally Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. #79-#83 for the year.

Pure bliss.

  1. Sweet yard bird, JOKA! I'm jealous! YERA deserves to be 2nd behind PRFA in the Rarity Comp not 4th. I almost made that change for you, but that's not my decision. You ought to record its song for posterity (and our enjoyment!).

  2. I agree with Rick - give yourself some credit for that one! Tell us a bit about the scene at your house at 6:02am...
