2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Under the brambles

There have been a few of these cryptic birds in the yard the last few days.

  1. Nice Big Rig - is that timberdoodle (yes, because of you I've taken to calling them by that) at an area park or is that really your backyard? You habitat tycoon.

My bird-dog Lilly flushed one up from my soon-to-be new yard on March 21! It was out in the cattails in a mud hole, a definite migrant.

FRAZLed, me doodlin' with the timber?! After all, a bird in the h...

DASHed, that's a very probing question.

Haasenpfeffer, you silly rabbit, lay it down!

  5. don't encourage him Rick - it's nice to see someone showing some restraint here.

adut men acting like juveniles - pathetic. So glad I'm not like that....

  6. Swung it from a safe distance, woodcocks are more dangerous than most (female) birders think.
