2013 and beyond
It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.
2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Nice Big Rig - is that timberdoodle (yes, because of you I've taken to calling them by that) at an area park or is that really your backyard? You habitat tycoon.
ReplyDeleteMy bird-dog Lilly flushed one up from my soon-to-be new yard on March 21! It was out in the cattails in a mud hole, a definite migrant.
My wife almost got hit in the head by a displaying woodcock once. Last night.

Swung it from a safe distance, woodcocks are more dangerous than most (female) birders think.
