2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

A bit of flyover action this afternoon

As you all may have noticed, I'm now gaining on DuckBoy. Watch out! A nice clear sky this afternoon encouraged a bit of movement over the Wastelands today. Most notably was a pair of red-tails that appeared to be doing a courtship flight. The other score was a group of MODOs cruising between buildings.

  3. Seriously you needed some kind of shot in the arm. Have you decided whether to include that pond near your place to increase your sightlines? Hell in spring you might even get a few anas splashing down in there.

  4. Dave is correct...peeps are catching wind that the Big Booner is now blogging his yard birding hellashiousness. To answer each of you respectively:
PutNut--Yes! didn't think of it like that but thanks for the encouragement
    Global DubNer--Shut up
Fitzpunked--I am going to going to include the pond to my northwest...it's basically in my backyard and I've fairly interesting things there like Green Heron in the fall. What else can I legitimately annex to my yard? Does this sort of thing need to go up for a vote or something?
Slagermeister--your witty little observations never cease to amaze me
