2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

'Haastage" starting from 2nd place in all-time list

Just got the "Haastage taker"'s all-time yardlist updated, and have come to find out he is in 2nd place already! Even worse, he already has the following species on his YARD LIST:

-Townsend's Solitaire (GEEZ)
-Harris's Sparrow (still a STATE bird for me)
-Carolina Wren (great bird in UP, esp that far north)
-Greater White-fronted Goose
-Clay-colored Sparrow
-All of Michigan's regular finches!

Time to get busy overcoming this gap...

  1. Also note the new "playing field" map at the bottom here. Now, are Aaron Boone or any others going to join?

  2. I invited him today and he said he was game. Also side note, Skye's yard is technically third all-time, you can't not count my old yard, just b/c you wish you had such a killer list... I'm very impressed by your 4 GLGUs Skye...dang, how far from the big lake are you?

  3. About a mile from the lake, mebbe less as the gull flies.

I also happen to live on the dump-lake flight path so that gets me a steady stream of gulls

  4. Seanly- well, then. What about MY old yard in Lapeer, or in Missoula, or in Kalkaska? Do they count too?

BTW, get me Aaron's email address and stuff and we'll invite him with posting privileges to the blog and google doc area. I am still working on Harry Hussey (Co Cork, Ireland) as a potential additional member, but he may well be too sane to join!
