2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

1:04AM- time for a new life yardbird

After spending 10:15PM-midnight on the roof (lots of seeps- mostly CHSP and SOSP, a few needing more analysis), I did my final listen off the back porch at 1:04AM and was THRILLED to have an AMWO peenting and twittering over the field to the south and west of the yard. Can hardly believe it (60/124). G'night.

  3. AMWO is definitely worth loosing sleep for! One of my favorites. Observing their displays brings back a lot of childhood memories.

Do I really need to answer this question with the Grand Rapids nexrad lit up with blue and tons of seeps emanating from the airspace above my house? My question is: "why aren't you on your roof, chump?"!

  5. Hey...that's a great idea S.P....I just figured I'd stay off my roof considering we have the lower level. But heck, I'm going up there as soon as I get home so as to give our upper level "neighbors" a taste of their stomping medecine. Nice! Anybody got a big ladder...?

  6. Guess the only bird you got for all the effort was one that I already had, CHUMP!
