Never thought I'd see a Leopard Frog in the UP in March. This fella was swimming in the shallows of Lake Michigan on 19 March.
2013 and beyond
It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.
2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Early frog gets the female. Looks like this male leopard frog is getting ready for the hop. Seems about the right time for thes guys to thaw out and get down to business . They have a great low snoring call. This blog has taken quite the amphibious turn. We should compete on an all species yard list, that'd get crazy eh? Maybe next year.
