2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Northen Shrike at last & SOSP

Finally got a view of the elusive NSHR (#40/154) from MY property this morning. It even allowed for digiscoped photos. This afternoon a Song Sparrow (#41) showed up at the feeders.

  1. A very nice tick for the yard Rick. Way to be persistent!

  2. Rick - nice composition and detail; you should give Caleb some pointers.

  3. Joe, I've tried to give him pointers on perspective, but....

Nice numerical order on the rarity competition. Yes, 8 does come before 6. Has to be doings of be-DASL.

Thanks, Sean. No releases from south Texas in your yard next week.

  5. Close Rick, It was I who messed up the rarity numbers. I thought your shrike deserved better than the so called Dopple, and the lame-ass GCKI. So I moved it up the rankings and forgot to change the number after I dragged and dropped. I am numerically challenged. Not good in a comp. that relies on counting. Luckily DASL has changed the Google doc. to count my yard birds for me, or I'd never get anywhere.
