2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

#31 TUVU Today

Not much new to report from here other than one flyover TUVU (#31). I had to play catch-up the other day, but now that I caught up to what's actually around right now the new birds have been slow in coming the past 2 days.

  1. Checked your yard setup last night...looks very cool. I'm seriously envious of your trees that are likely taller than just 3 meters...

  2. Yeah, I got a few nice big trees (mostly red oak with a few maple and big-toothed aspen) as well as a very layered understory too. That's what pays dividends when it comes to birds. Satelite images only show the canopy and so a park with mowed grass below looks the same as a real forested patch (which mine is), but there's a HUGE diversity despairity between each.
