2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

BUFF, HOLA & CARW

Things were hoppin' this morning. A Horned Lark (#30) flew over and within a few seconds of that so did a Bufflehead (#31/151). A scolding Carolina Wren (#32) caught my attention after that. All within 15 minutes!

  3. Whatever, I had six HOLAs today and cawr is a regular at my feeders. So anyways I went birdin in the yard tonight and it seems the 6-8 inches of snow has dissuaded the cocks so far

  4. I'm looking forward to their display. Not yet here either. There are adequate open areas here for them, however.

  5. Wait, are you referring to Canyon, Cactus, or Carolina Wren there Ben? For someone who's very presence on this blog means he must be an advanced birder, that's a pretty bush-league 4-letter mix-up! You've obviously never done bird work out west or you'd be wise to that little trap.

  6. Sorry, it was a typo! I just put the r before the w by accident I swear. I was replying off of my ipod touch so, the small screen and touch typing messed me over. But, still you should know that anything thats going to be a regular at my feeder wouldn't be either of the two CACW or CANW, my yard isn't that good. But of course as a beginner yourself, you'd never know that. I always have to spoon feed you noobs. I live in the east which is outside the range of those two birds Sean, look at those little maps in your favorite bird books.
