2013 and beyond

It's pretty simple: the most birds seen or heard from one's yard during 2013 will be the "winner". Want in? O.k....then do it despite that.

2013 promises to be a lot less mean but still a carbon-free birding competition, even if slightly less exciting than a MEGA x EPIC hybrid.

Surprise life yardbird- the night strikes again

Only surprising because of the number of times I've tried previously with no result. But tonight just walking out the back door (no tapes used, honest) I immediately heard a Barred Owl (41/118) in full song to the east. Bout time!

  1. Just had another life yardbird- a silent Meadowlark sp. (42/119) which flew rather low over the house heading west, presumably to the airport... When it rains it pours. Now I just need to nail down a RUBL amongst all these RWBL flying over all day. Problem is they never land, so it's gonna be tough.
